What is a Deacon?
Deacons are to be servants of the church. This is in accordance with the practice from the
New Testament church. Deacons must possess the practical and spiritual qualifications as set
forth in the New Testament (1 Timothy 3;
Acts 6:1-5).
A Deacon must exhibit evidence of being
mature in doctrine and the practice of Christian faith as expressed in
Galatians 5:21-22 and
1 Timothy 3:8-10. The Deacon shall be loyal to the practices and work of this Church, be a tither,
be diligent in attendance of the church services, and be careful to manifest respect, cooperation,
and support for Church leadership and the decisions of the Church body so as to advance the entire
program, ministry, and witness of the Church in our area. Spiritual maturity and wisdom are
primary to the role of Deacon. They seek to know the physical, moral, and spiritual condition of
the membership. They are to lead the whole Church in relieving, encouraging, and developing those
who are in need spiritually or physically.
At present, the Deacons are using the Family Ministry Model as a way to minister to the needs and
serve each member’s needs. Each member is assigned a Deacon so that every member can find support
and encouragement when needed.
